GEII’s Presence at the World Christianity Conference

GEII Executive Director, Aaron Hollander, recently attended the 2026 World Christianity Conference in Recife, Brazil, where he was involved in three different panels in the course of the gathering. In addition to speaking on a panel pertaining to Raimundo Barreto’s new book on Latin American ecumenical contributions, and participating in a panel honoring the lifetime achievement of Dale Irvin (a longtime friend and supporter of the Franciscan Friars of the Atonement), Dr. Hollander was honored to serve as the respondent to a panel that the conference organizers had convened on his own recent book, Saint George Liberator: Hagiography as Resistance in the Modern Mediterranean. After hearing remarks from Deanna Womack (Emory University), Graham McGeoch (Faculdade Unida de Vitoria), Héctor Varela Rios (Villanova University), and Raúl Zegarra (Harvard Divinity School), Dr. Hollander addressed their questions and raised new possibilities about the significance of his book for the urgent ecumenical and interfaith questions of today.
