A Shawl of Gratitude: A Spirit of Ecumenism

On July 22, we were honored to welcome Fr. Anthaiah Kondaveeti, Executive Secretary of the Commission for Ecumenism of the Conference of Catholic Bishops of India, to Graymoor Ecumenical & Interreligious Institute (GEII).
While in New York City for work with the Archdiocese, Fr. Anthaiah made time to visit GEII — a place he’s long admired through Ecumenical Trends, which he began reading during his seminary days.

He shared how the mission and vision of Servant of God Fr. Paul Wattson, SA had inspired him in his own ecumenical journey. In a moving gesture of gratitude for Fr. Paul’s legacy and the ongoing work of GEII and the Atonement Friars, Fr. Anthaiah presented Dr. Aaron Hollander with a shaluva (shawl) — a traditional South Indian sign of honor in the Telugu culture.
We are deeply grateful for this moment of shared faith and friendship across continents.
