ART POSTER: Commentary on Art Piece

2014 Week of Prayer for Christian Unity

About the artwork…

The Cross: The Cross, with its deep rooted connection throughout the world, depicts our true unity. We are united because of Jesus Christ and that one incredible moment of sacrifice.

The Buildings: It doesn’t matter where we live, where we came from, what we look like, what language we speak, what our church building looks like, how we worship and so on. What matters is that we look to Jesus Christ; keep our focus on Him and not on our differences.

The World: Though we are divided on different continents, we are connected through our faith in Jesus Christ. When we add in our own ideas, opinions, interpretations, legalism, egos, etc… we cause division and reasons to disagree. The roots get tangled and fight for light. We waste our precious time arguing about how to love our neighbor, rather than actually loving our neighbor as Jesus would. We need to know Him, have a relationship with Him, and look to His example of how to live, love, and work with each other.

About the Designer — Kristine Cotterman …

I’ve always loved creating art. I really enjoy working with brilliant colors and watching a design come together. I am thankful for my relationship with Jesus Christ, and happy that I am able to use my gifts for Him. In 1997, I do believe He came, rescued me, and gave me the life I was meant to have. I was able to go to college, graduate, and start a successful web design/graphic design business. I’ve had so many amazing opportunities to work with Christians around the globe and here in the U.S.  The world, as big as it is, really within reach.
